‘Queer LDN, 2023’
Exhibiting in a Graduate exhibition hosted at Truman Brewery and Curated by Zelda Chealtes.

‘In QUEER LDN, her degree work, the closeness of "a tribe", friends or strangers, who grin into her camera, strike playful poses and knowingly enjoy being looked at, captured in her photographs, evokes Wolfgang Tilllmans's early 90's club portraits.

In Ruby's work, which nods in Tillmans's direction through the subject matter and photographic language, we feel similar insider's gaze. She photographs her people with spontananaity, an instinct of snapping for "family" albums. Yet, as she grew up with photography firmly rooted in the establishment, her youthful gaze is combined with intentionality and self-awareness about her agency; knowledge about a cultural and social value of an archive that expands the presence of narratives of queerness in the vernacular.’
